Myrtleford will come alive once again celebrating its vibrant community through-out the March Labour Day weekend 10-14 March 2011 celebrating the town’s 51st festival. 

Friendly locals welcome visitors to stay and enjoy the magnificent surroundings they proudly call “home”. The regular special events and activities held during the extra long weekend include the Festival Ball and crowning of the Festival Queen, historical, art, photography, floral and embroidery exhibitions, industries and local knowledge tours, markets, street parade followed by a street party, live music, breakfast in the park, bike rides both motorcycle and bicycle, movies, fireworks, and sporting events. A wide variety of events will ensure the 5 days of the festival provide plenty to do for young and old, locals and tourists. 

 

The origins of the festival first held in 1961 acknowledging the region’s agricultural heritage and diversity and the fact that local production is founded on planting, growing and harvesting renewable and sustainable resources still continue today. 

 

Highlights of the festival each year are the Flowers and Embroidery Exhibition and the Art and Photography Exhibition.  The markets, street parade and street party held on the Saturday are always popular. There will be free live entertainment between 11am and 10pm – with a break for the Rotary Parade 4pm to 5pm. day, lending the Make the most of sitting back, relaxing and enjoying local and not so local talent throughout the day.  Enjoy some local produce – food and wine from our region. 

 

Once again the weekend will be packed with plenty to do for all the family – bike rides, picnic and games, open air movie and fireworks.  The Myrtleford Festival is truly a family festival and fun for everyone.
